Search Hints:
Subject Search lets you browse the catalog using Library of Congress Subject Headings.
LC Subject Headings use very specific vocabulary. For example, the subject heading for
books on Typography include "Type and type-founding" and "Printing,"
but not the word "Typography" as you might expect.
To look up official LC Subject Headings, consult the five-volume set of Library of
Congress Subject Headings located at the Reference Desk. You can also try guessing at
possible subject headings and then browse the results to look for alternate search terms.
If you are not getting results from your Subject Search, try using the same terms with a
Keyword Search.
If you find an exact match, a list of subject headings will be displayed with your
search at the top. If no match is found, a list of subject headings close to your search
will be displayed.
